This event may be of interest to sustainability researchers at Newcastle. Sir Joseph Swan Centre for Energy Research (http://www.ncl.ac.uk/energy/) and Energy Institute (https://www.energyinst.org/home) are jointly organising “Energy efficiency lessons from the food and beverage industry”, which will be held on the 5th of February 2015.
This half-day seminar and workshop will examine energy efficiency in the food and beverage industry at all scales. Presentations will cover the EU GREENFOODS project, the UK meat industry, the brewing industry and an energy audit case study from an RPEC consultant.
Speakers will include:
- Dr Chian Chan GradEI, EU GREENFOODS project: The current impediments that prevents wide scale energy efficiency implementation of SMEs in the food and beverage industry in the UK.
- Christine Walsh, Agricultural and Horticultural Development Board (AHDB): Energy demand in the meat industry, brief overview of UK virtual energy competence centre.
- Jon Barker CEng MEI Chartered Energy Engineer, Energy Consultant and RPEC member: Case study of energy audit of systems used across sectors, including the food and beverage industry
- Will Todd, UK Beer and Pubs Association: Energy efficiency in the food, beverage and brewing industries, development of sector wide ESOS compliance scheme with BBPA for the brewing industry.
