Edinburgh Braids Hill

The Braid Hills Cross Country Races are held annually by Edinburgh University Hare & Hounds. They take place on a challenging 5km loop course situated between King’s Buildings and the Pentland Hills, and surrounded by great views of our beautiful city. The two races, a 5km and 10km, are popular with both local club runners and universities from around the British Isles

The course is undulating and often wet, with one steep downhill on each lap. Fell or studded racing shoes are recommended, but not spikes as much of the course runs over a gravel bridle path. There is approximately 180m of ascent.

There are two races to choose from:

  • 1 lap (approx. 5km)
  • 2 laps (approx. 10km)

Registration is at KB House, King’s Buildings (West Mains Road).
Changing and showering facilities are available in KB House. Please note there are no toilet/changing facilities at the course.

Basic overnight accommodation in an Edinburgh student’s flat can be provided for visiting University teams if they contact us in good time prior to the race. Teams wishing to do so and in need of any further information should talk to the Race Organiser.

Afterwards Edinburgh host a ceilidh, along with haggis, neeps & tatties (yum).
