Sunday night stomp! 12th February @ Hoochie Coochie
Hot dance music of the 1920's, 30's, 40's and 50's, which sounds right down our alley. Hoochie Coochie is on 54 Pilgrim St, NE1 6SF. Entry is £5 and it includes a free dring and a swing taster lesson. Find more info at NE1CanSwing.co.uk.
Leeds Soc 10th Anniversary workshop, 16th - 18th March
We are thinking about going. It's only £20 for students. We were thinking of taking a minibus down there and sharing the costs, so if you want to go (it's the weekend after term finishes so no excuses, you can't have booked your trains etc THAT early!) LET LUCY KNOW ASAP. They're giving us the opportunity to book before booking opens, so let us know. We're trying to get numbers of leads and follows fairly even. If you want to come, EMAIL US NOW!!!
The Swung Eight, Saturday 17th March, 20.30 @ World Headquarters
The Swung Eight is back! And yes, we do realise it is the same weekend as the Leeds workshop. No, we are not expecting you to be in two places at the same time (although you can certainly try if you so wish and you'll earn all our admiration), instead, we are providing you with an alternative in case you can't make it to Leeds. Some of us will go to Leeds and others will be at Swing Eight. This one features live music from the excellent local band Rob Heron & the Tea Pad Orchestra. Entry is £8. Find more info at www.facebook.com/theswungeight.
Sunday night stomp! 25th March @ Hoochie Coochie
Another Sunday night stomp! The following description is exactly the same as the other Sunday night stomp! You can carry on reading, you can re-read the previous one or just stop reading here.
Socials
Where? Various throughout the term. Make sure you're on the society mailing list for further details.
When? - Throughout term - updates to follow.
We will organise socials on various nights during the term. We also take part in the International Festival of Arts and Music (IFAM) each year - here's one or our performances and the 2007 show. There's various post party clips of dancing (of sorts) there too.
To get to Jazz cafe from station (assume you can find that!)... go out, cross the road. Walk to the left and there's a 'subway' sandwich place. Turn right at this up the little lane and it's 20 second walk up the lane on the right. It takes about 90 seconds to walk from the station, so if you've walked 5 minutes it has gone wrong!
We'll email you to keep you up to date with events. A copy of email is kept here
