Why Contribute to the Postgraduate Forum e-Journal?
The Postgraduate Forum e-Journal offers many advantages over the more traditional methods of academic publishing. Our ethos is to promote as much new and exciting, peer-reviewed research as possible. We are therefore happy to accept material from a range of sources, including postgraduates and research assistants working both here in Newcastle, and at other Universities, and we now also accept contributions from final year undergraduates in exceptional circumstances. We are also happy to accept a wide variety of contributions in terms of content. As well as the more traditional pieces, we are also interested in book reviews, conference reviews, undergraduate dissertation summaries, and articles outlining planned projects or projects in progress. Contributors are encouraged to write on any relevant subject in which they hold a scholarly interest; it does not have to relate to the work you are currently undertaking. Thus, we would encourage new PhD students to outline what was new and exciting about their masters degree, and new Masters students to submit summaries of their undergraduate dissertation, for example.
Our decision to publish online means that we can utilise the newest and most exciting technologies when it comes to showing a contributors’ work to its best advantage. Should authors wish to use animation, audio or video technologies, please contact the Secretary.
Whilst we would like to encourage as many people as possible to submit pieces for the Postgraduate Forum, all contributions will still be subject to examination by the Editorial Committee. This serves to ensure that not only is the Postgraduate Forum innovative in its methods, but also scholarly in its content, ensuring that all contributors receive the credit they deserve for their work.
