About NUPC
Newcastle University Parachute Club have been supporting fun loving academics in achieving the ultimate adrenaline rush since 1980(ish).
Our aim is to introduce students to the sport, to guide you through all necessary training and to become a fully qualified skydiver. Additionally, we provide a network for likeminded students to meet, regularly socialise, arrange trips across the country and abroad and help you to continue to improve your skills and abilities both in and out of parachuting.
NUPC works to make all of this possible whilst keeping to a student budget. Group bookings and club subsidy to all student training and jumping keeps your costs down to around half of what you would expect to pay to train outside of the club.
Whether you want to get involved with the club to become a skydiver, for the fast paced social life, or you just fancy coming along and lobbing yourself out of an aircraft, let us know and all will be arranged for you.
Join now to start the ball rolling, or give us a shout if there's anything you want to know. If you want to come and chat to us about anything we do, or just want to meet the club, we have a weekly social - drop in for a cheeky pint and we'll hopefully clarify any questions you might have.
We look forward to having you on board!
Training
NUPC supports all routes into sport parachuting, but concentrates subsidy on RAPS (Ram Air Progression System) - the most cost effective approach to learning to skydive.
We will arrange a ground training course at Skydive Academy, starting on a Friday evening which will continue through Saturday morning until the neccessary 8 hours are complete. After this, you are able to complete your first solo skydive from around 3,500ft – a static line descent where the parachute depoyment is automatic.
After your first jump, you are able to progress though the system through a series of jumps, which continue to add both complexity and altitude until you become a fully qualified skydiver.
