60th anniversary event for alumni members

As you may be aware, 2012 is Newcastle University Gilbert and Sullivan Society's 60th Anniversary. As such we wish to invite all alumni members to a special reunion on the afternoon of our final performance of The Pirates of Penzance. The event will comprise of a lunch, raffle, speeches and a chance to see snippets of old shows. There will be a ticket that includes both the event and entrance to the show in the evening and you will of course be welcome to bring a guest. The reunion will be held in the University's Student Union on Kings Walk at 1.30 pm on Saturday 18th February. The show is being performed in the Royal Grammar School's Theatre at 7.30 pm. Carol singing success

Members of NUGSS took to the streets of Newcastle to raise the spirits of the Northumberland Street shoppers, as well as raising funds for the society's upcoming production of Pirates of Penzance.

Carol singing success

Members of NUGSS took to the streets of Newcastle on Sunday 6th and Thursday 10th December to raise the spirits of the Northumberland Street shoppers, as well as raising funds for the society's upcoming production of HMS Pinafore. A total of £97.27 was raised by the singers!
Hoodies have arrived!

The new NUGSS hoodies have finally arrived. A deep cherry red, the back of the hoodie has a large NUGSS logo and the front sports the University crest along with the society name and a personally chosen name!
New website online

The new NUGSS website is finally online! This first phase brings a dynamic news and events section, along with links to the NUGSS pages on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube. Features planned for the next phase include a greenery-yallery photograph gallery, blog and list of past performances.
Death of Bill Caldwell

It is with great sadness to announce the death of Bill Caldwell on Friday 6th November, who was 88 years old. Bill was Musical Director of NUGSS for many years in the 80s and 90s as well as founder member, musical director, chairman and president of St Andrews G&S in Monkseaton. Our thoughts are with his family.
